Received the manual quite promptly in excellent condition (I would say better than I expected). The book itself is a good manual although I wouldnt rely solely on it. It does lack in some pictures and I would recomment an additional manual/book so that one could be better versed with MGBs.

The book arrived in good shape with no missing or tattered pages. No notes were written in the book from the previous owner. Overall it looked like it hadnt been used to much and was kept in good shape

I recently rebuilt my engine on my 1972 MGB, and while I did find the chapter on engine rebuilding helpful, there were times when the writing could have been less vague, not to mention the archaic use of "whilst" for the word while. The section on inserting the distributor drive was vague, and I had often contacted Brit-Tek for much-needed advice. Also, on the section describing replacing the rings, the book states to have the ring gaps at a 90 degree angle from the thrust side of the engine. The book doesn't tell you that the thrust side is the right side of the engine. There are also sections in the book, such as that for torque settings, that merely state what the torque settings are for early and later cars -- but without being specific and stating which years are the early and which years are the later cars! There are three different connecting rods, and mine requires the torque setting of 33 pounds. This is not the early setting, which I believe they have at 40 pounds. Again, this is essential to know, if you don't want to snap a nut and incure the cost of purchasing new connecting rod bolts. Issues such as this, make the book sometimes frustrating. I also had the help of a British car garage, Moss Motors and Brit-Tek -- both of which were a great help. The folks at Victoria British generally have little or no knowledge of mechanical issues. Finally, I will add that Peter Burgess' book "How to Power-Tune your MGB" was further helpful.

This manual is basically a condensed version of Robert Bentley's "The Complete Official MGB". I now have two manuals with the same information.

This manual covers most of the basics but has general information only and lacks a lot in specifics regarding different models. Body and Chassis section is not very in depth. It is a simple repair manual and not a restoration manual. Haynes could make three, possibly four, manuals for this car and be more specific.

Average Rating:

Haynes disassembles every subject vehicle and documents every step with thorough instructions and clear photos. Haynes repair manuals are used by the pros, but written for the do-it-yourselfer.

After receiving the book, I was really disappointed in the picture/illustration quality and size. The black & white pictures appear like they are a copy of a copy. Very dark, not very clear, fussy almost. Most pictures are small 2"x 2", not what I expected in a manual of this subject. The text also lacked some detail/specifics, i.e. when it recommended a common bolt to replace an unavailable pivot pin, it didn't give the size and length. Things like this is what I was looking for in a restoration manual. I can figure out most things on my own, I was looking for some experienced insight and tip & tricks specific to my vehicle, not sure I got it with this book. If I've seen this book at the store before I could buy it, I may not have.

This book was in great condition, some of the photos are grainy and outdated, but overall the book is interesting and informative.

I purchased this book thinking it was an updated version of the "Guide To Purchase and DIY Restoration of the MGB". I was really surprised to find that the new edition lacked many of the tutorials found in the original book, and was more geared toward people reshelling their MGB using the Heritage body shells now available. While the book is good for those who are just starting with their MGB, I would recommend getting the first edition to see how one really restores an MGB back to its original condition. I have owned my MGB for over twenty years, and I can tell you that the original book is much more in depth for those that like to get their hands dirty.

The introduction and section on buying an MG are very well done and useful. This section is probably worth the cost of the book. The sections on the restoration process is disappointing. The book has plenty of pictures, but they are so small and of mediocre quality that they aren't very useful. When explaining how to do various jobs, the book is somewhat superficial and wouldn't be of much help if someone really doesn't know how to do something. I find that the Official Workshop Manual is much more useful than the Restoration Manual.

This book gives a great overview of all the potential "opportunities" in restoring an MGB> a "must have" book.

How to Power Tune MGB 4-Cylinder Engines (Speedpro) How to Power Tune MGB 4-Cylinder Engines (Speedpro)

This book is a great read for anyone who owns and maintains an MGB. You don't need to be chasing every last horsepower to get a benefit from reading this. Plus, it covers gearbox, diff, brakes, suspension, fueling, and cooling. Recommended.

Useful information but the quality of the book needs to be improved, some of the tables and charts are faded, as though the years have not been kind and there has been many.

This is a valuable asset to the library of MGB owners interested in what can go into an engine rebuild. Specific information for increased streetability as well as racing that can benefit all levels of drivers.

As an owner of two 1972 MGBs, this book has been a great help in pointing out the potential of the MGB 4-banger. Hey, remember the MGB stopped production over 20 years ago! Unless you can afford a Moss Motors turbocharger or a crossflow intake, this is as good as it gets. Honor the marque and buy this book!

This book belongs in every MGB owner's library. It's information is accurate and reliable. Peter Burgess well deserves his reputation as the master among MGB Tuners, and his book makes it obvious as to why and how he has come to be considered to be so.

Don't buy; the desk tips over. After my daughter and I put this desk together, and my grandson sat in it, it tipped over. My grandson fell, bashed his face and lips. His teeth must have bit into his lip because blood was streaming from his face. DO NOT BUY. Amazon should remove this item from their database. I threw it away. I wish I had purchased a different desk. My grandson had just turned 3 yrs old, so he was not too heavy according to the buying instructions listed.

I love that it's Michigan, and they are unique. Plus I don't want Backyardigans or some other cartoon on my car. I have used these on 2 different vehicles, a 2000 chevy impala and a 2008 chrysler sebring and on both I have had a difficult time getting them to stay on. The hooks for hanging on the windows are useless for that, it doesn't even get the window up over the weatherstripping so not only is there wind noise, if it is raining water can get in. The suction cups stick fine once you get them on, but if you ever have to take them off to move it forget it. I had it up on my impala finally and didn't ever move them, and they stayed up during an accident (the other car hit the side the shade was on) but once I took them off to move to the new car, they have not stayed up since. Also, the "button" to roll up the shade is useless, my 3 year old who can figure out anything mechanical can't get it. Heck, I can hardly get it! You kind of have to push the button and roll the shade up manually. Finally, the suction cup/velcro for the bottom part is also useless. I just had to leave mine hanging down and not attached to the window.

A good product. The sucton cups seem a little on the weak side so you have to be extra careful getting them sealed on the window.

We bought a previous screen that my son destroyed. This one has held up well so far. Also, many of the other screens I found said "baby on board" which seems inapporiate now that my son is nearly 2. (this one does not)

Product was as expected. The rear side passenger window of our truck is divided into two windows, the one window is stationary and the other goes up and down. The divider between the two did not allow the window shade to be installed using the hooks however using the suction cups and strattling the divider allowed the shade to be used. It works great and was well worth the money. Baby loves it!
